Michael started having seizures at 6 months of age. We went to a medical doctor at Kaiser and Michael was seen by a group of neurologists. They performed tests on him, which all came out negative. He was diagnosed with epilepsy in Mexico 2 years ago and was put on drug medications that made him too sleepy. He didn’t play or want to do anything. Then the seizures began to increase: from one seizure every 6 months to once a week and then once a day. His head would hurt, and he had fatigue just before the seizure. They were scary because no one knew when they would occur.
We were then advised by some friends to come to the Yeh Center of Natural Medicine. We did not believe in natural medicine and we thought that modern medicine was the only way. In 1997, Michael (at the age of 3) began treatments with Dr. Timothy Yeh. He was given baby acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition and dietary guidelines.
As soon as Michael began treatments, he started to recover. He began to act normal and play again. He did not have a seizure for nearly 1 year, so we stopped the treatments due to financial reasons. He then had one seizure, and so we immediately put him back on the herbs and acupuncture treatments. Michael is now 6 years old, and he is doing very well in school. He hasn’t had a seizure since the one episode almost a year ago. He is in the first grade. Life is well now. We want to encourage others to give natural medicine a try because it works – acupuncture works. The staff was very knowledgeable and dedicated. We would refer other family members to the Yeh Center.
